Everyday intuition is something you can always tap into. I use the term “everyday” because you don’t need fancy cards, crystals or gurus to bring it out. Intuition is for everyone. As a skill we can all develop, you should use it daily to make it stronger.
Intuitive skill starts with you. Your environment & beliefs help or hinder its development. Noticing hunches makes tarot reading easier & on point. But its guidance in the rest of your life is where your intuitive skills really shine.
For example, you may be pulled to the local shops. This is how I ran into an old coworker whom I’d been thinking about. We were crossing opposite sides of the street at the same time. After a hug, I learned she was going through a somewhat serious health issue.
The push to walk that exact street at that exact time had to be intuitive.
The Intuitive State
Calm, open states are usually when intuitive feelings & messages hit. Repetitive acts, like chanting or movement, get you into a receptive state. If you pray with rosary or mala beads, use that time as your intuitive space where messages arrive.
You can get a song, name or other piece of information. It might be the feeling to go somewhere, call someone or look up information.
I got the itch to look up Arcade Fire’s tour dates after hearing them in a shop. Distill in Toronto, Canada. They happened to be playing at Madison Square Garden the very next month. You’re damn right I bought tickets immediately! They’ve been on my bucket list for over a decade.
Information comes while making coffee, cleaning the kitchen, going for walks & taking baths.
Here’s a trick I like using. I think of tarot client’s questions while going for walks in my favorite neighborhood.
Visions have popped into my head, answering their concerns. I saw what a client’s elemental muse looked like. This also shows you don’t need prior experience or belief to see something. I’ve never worked with elementals or entities.
But there we were, confirming that vision as accurate & truthful to my client’s experience.
Intuitive Beliefs
Be open to receive information you have no experience with. It will likely come to you in ways you can understand. Intuition uses our own symbolic language. Even if it’s off the wall or something you don’t work with, trust it.
You’re also showing that you can be trusted to use that information & more will come.
Your beliefs about your psychic skills effect how messages come in. You’re the “mouthpiece”. How well would they flow if you were all mucked up with anxiety & doubt?
Fear
Fear encompasses many tangents. Doubt, anxiety. Attracting negative spirits, being wrong, dealing with other peoples’ problems.
Understanding the nature of this work & setting boundaries can help. Keep it light. Ask a question about something with no pressure.
Thinking messages have to be in-your-face loud
Intuitive messages are subtle. They work their way through you like any other thought, feeling or sensation.
They come to you in ways you can understand. Spirit wants you to get the drift.
That elemental entity I saw before? He appeared in a way I could understand. As a tarot reader, I’m familiar with elements & their colors. In the vision he was human-ish with blue skin. Spirit worked with what I knew to tell me about something I’ve no experience with.
Into music? You’ll get a piece of a song in your head. Then you’ll get in your car & it will be playing. I feel these are check-ins with your intuition.
Practices + Habits to Develop Intuition
Go outside
Getting out in nature is a favorite intuition-jogging trick. The refreshing feeling helps you relax & accept the hunches coming to you.
You also use more of your senses. Engaging more of our body helps us tune into feeling- another way intuition speaks to you.
It’s a given that taking care of our bodies is a good idea. A good-feeling body help you feel contented- important to your intuitive practice.
Work meditation & mindfulness into your day
Meditation is key to developing a clear psychic screen. Notice thoughts, release them & enjoy moments of gratitude.
Walking, yoga & other forms of exercise are wonderful times to meditate. Moving meditations combine your body, mind & spirit.
Try something novel
Our minds thrive on change so do something new.
Grab a tarot deck you haven’t used in a while & throw some cards. Visit a new town. Take a course or buy an ebook to develop a skill.
Affirm Your Beliefs
Want to change your limiting beliefs about being intuitive? Try stating what you want to believe or experience.
Write them down and have them ready in a place you see daily. My sheet’s in the front of my planner.
You can say something like “I am profoundly intuitive” or “I use intuition to help myself & others.”
